RYKO a.s. is a Czech company specializing in the repair, modernization and manufacture of railway vehicles and steel structures. At its Děčín site, the company decided to install a rooftop photovoltaic system with battery storage to increase energy self-sufficiency, reduce operating costs and make efficient use of renewables.
Phase 1 (2020): Installation of a rooftop PV plant with total capacity 419.9 kWp, split into five independent clusters. The delivery also included a comprehensive energy management control system providing monitoring, control and analysis of electricity production and consumption across the site buildings.
Phase 2 (2022–2025): Expansion with a new PV system rated 675.74 kWp and a battery energy storage system (BESS) of 322.5 kWh. The upgraded setup adds energy storage and advanced load control, enabling effective use of generated energy, peak shaving and improved operational stability. The project also implemented a modernized control layer with PLC, MaR switchboards and visualization in the MV/LV substation.
YOUNG4ENERGY scope: design documentation (DSP, DPS), complete permitting/engineering, author’s supervision and owner’s technical supervision; grant advisory, UPOS/UTP grid connection with the DSO, BESS legalization and preparation of bids and calculations for participation in balancing services (SVR). The project was successfully completed and commissioned.
